Fall Back at Two

"Thank God We're Connected to the Rest of the World"
- P. Laux, President of Indiana Chamber of Commerce

From the inception of Daylight Savings time Indiana has been difficult.

Indiana was included in Eastern Standard Time in 1969.
But several counties left the time zone to be with Chicago.

There are 18 counties in CST and 74 in EST.
Indiana is only 140 miles wide.

Some counties followed daylight savings time and others did not.
In short: There are three possible times in Indiana during savings time and two possible times during standard time. Friends were sometimes in the same time zone.

Beginning October 29th, all of Indiana will observe daylight savings time. Now things are much simpler with two time zones in one state.

Just wait until they learn that savings time will be extended by a month effective in 2007.
Do you think Indiana can delay this change by fifty years too?
